Award-winning Gitxsan artist Michelle Stoney from Hazelton recently held painting workshops for youth and adults at the Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia. Stoney’s artwork combines elements from her Gitxsan and Cree heritage, utilizing bold colours, sharp outlines and northwest coast shapes and symbols. One student said, “I really liked learning how to use different colour schemes, as well as learning about other types of art.”
