Panto auditions happen this week

FVG&SS ready to cast Phantom of the Panto for November, December production

Fraser Valley Gilbert and Sullivan Society is holding auditions this week for its 26th  musical comedy pantomime, Phantom of the Panto.

A large cast of men, women and children are required for approximately 10 lead parts and 20 members of the chorus and junior chorus (minimum age six years old).

This pantomime, inspired by Phantom of the Opera, requires characters such as the Phantom, the Angel of Music, Christine, Raoul, as well as some new panto comedy characters and dancers.

Anyone planning to audition is asked to prepare a popular song or musical theatre piece and bring sheet music in the appropriate key.

A CD track without vocals is acceptable, and a cappella is also permitted.

Lead by artistic director Mike Balser, choreographer Carol Seitz, music director Tim Tucker, and producer Reginald Pillay, auditions will be held in Surrey on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 6. Callbacks are set for Sunday, Sept. 9.

Due to the anticipated large number of responses, auditions will be by appointment. To book an appointment, please send an email to fvgssproducer@gmail.com. You’ll receive a return email with your audition date, time, and location.

Phantom of the Panto rehearsals begin on Sept. 11 and will be held on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Surrey/Delta. Performance dates are scheduled for Nov. 28 to Dec. 9 at the Surrey Arts Centre Main Stage Theatre.  For more information, visit the G&S society website at www.fvgss.org.
