Peonies in bloom at Grindrod puppet museum

Runaway Moon Theatre Arts Society prepares to host its annual Peony Tea fundraiser on Father’s Day Sunday.

The peonies are starting to bloom as the Runaway Moon Theatre Arts Society prepares to host its annual Peony Tea fundraiser on Father’s Day Sunday.

The 13th annual event takes place at the puppet museum at Curly Willow Farm in Grindrod from 1 to 4 p.m.

“(It) will offer children and adults of all ages the opportunity to help felt flowers, chat with puppets, be a bee, dance around the June pole, pick an arm-load of peonies, and bid on silent auction items donated by local businesses,” said Lark Lindholm, with Runaway Moon Theatre.

Afternoon entertainment will feature the talents of Mimi, Murray, the Balkan Choir, Zompopo Flores, Steve Fultz and the Twilight Gypsies Twirl.

“There will also be lemonade, tea, and lots of home-baked goodies for sale and all attendees can head home with an armful of peonies,” said Lindholm.

Curly Willow Farm is located off Highway 97A on Tompkinson Road (turn at SureCrop Feeds in Grindrod). Parking will be available along the road (look for signs.) Admission to the tea is $8 for adults, $3 for children over five, and $15 for a family.
