It’s been 25 years since Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera first hit the stage, and now it’s coming to a theatre near you.

A special 25th anniversary presentation of The Phantom of the Opera will be enjoyed at participating movie theatres across Canada, including Galaxy Cinemas in Vernon, Monday at 7 p.m. and Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.

This special presentation will be available in high-definition with digital surround sound, and will be recorded live from London’s Royal Albert Hall today.

The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most beloved musicals in Canada having thrilled audiences during a 10-year run in Toronto before moving on to tour the country,” said Pat Marshall, vice president of communications and investor relations at Cineplex Entertainment.

“Guests will once again experience the magic of the show, this time exclusively on the big screen with this star-studded event.”

The live recording will star Iranian-born Canadian Ramin Karimloo as The Phantom and Sierra Boggess as Christine. Joining the renowned performers will be Barry James as Monsieur Firmin, Gareth Snook as Monsieur André, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry and Wynne Evans as Piangi.

The production will feature a cast and orchestra of more than 200 and will also include special guest appearances.

Tickets for The Phantom can be purchased at participating theatre box offices, through the Cineplex Mobile Apps and online at www.cineplex.com/events or the mobile site m.cineplex.com.
