The Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra is ready to get you into the spirit of summer with its upcoming June concert, Midsummer Magic.

The Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra is ready to get you into the spirit of summer with its upcoming June concert, Midsummer Magic.

The concert will run on Friday, (June 17) at 7:30 p.m. at the Sooke Community Hall and Saturday, (June 18) at 7:30 p.m. in the Teechamista Theatre at Royal Bay Secondary School.

Featuring maestro Norman Nelson, Midsummer is a celebration of the summer solstice and a time to spend with friends. Join Nelson and transcend into the etherial Incidental Music to a Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn.

Special guest will also be Alana Despins, principal horn with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, as the soloist in Richard Strauss’ Horn Concerto No.1 in E flat. To round off the midsummer evening, the concert will end with Elgar’s famous Enigma Variations.

Children under 16 have free admission.
