Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band hosts event in memory of Scottish poet

The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band hosted a night of dinner, music and entertainment in memory of Robbie Burns at the Mary Winspear Centre Saturday night. All proceeds supported the pipe band’s 2019 community and cultural initiatives.

Robbie Burns was a Scottish poet and lyrcisit, famous for his words and music, including the yule-tide favourite: Auld Land Syne.

His birthday – 2019 would be his 260th – is celebrated around the world. This was the 16th year the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band hosted a celebration in his honour.
