The Creston Valley Music Teachers Association is presenting pianist and composer Jesse Plessis in a June 15 concert at Prince Charles Theatre.
Plessis obtained his master’s degree in music (performance and literature) from Brandon University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Lethbridge.
He has appeared in solo, chamber and concerto performances across Canada and Europe, has been described as having a “deft hand at crafting textures that pulse with life” (Winnipeg Free Press) and has received numerous awards in both piano and composition, most recently a laureate in the 2016 Eckhardt-Grammaté competition.
He resides in Montreal where he is active as a solo artist, collaborator and teacher. Plessis is also currently the artistic director of the Centric Festival, an annual classical music festival held in Lethbridge, Alta.
Plessis’s concert will include pieces by Arvo Pärt, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Vivier and Franz Liszt.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12; 50 per cent of the proceeds go to CVMTA bursaries for young musicians.
