French-born, classically trained pianist Hughes Leclère will headline the next event in The Old School House Music on Sunday series with a performance March 6.
A prolific recording artist, his discography contains 13 recordings, including world premieres such as Ladurner Sonatas opus 4 on a period instrument and the Witkovski violin sonata. In 2011, his live recordings of Mozart K488 and Ravel G major concerti with the Prague National Radio Orchestra were published.
Leclère perfected his playing with Catherine Collard before entering the Conservatoire National Superieur de musique de Paris, from which he graduated with high honors in piano, music theory, and chamber music.
He performs all over the world, from the U.S. and Canada to countries in the far east and across Europe.
Leclère has been invited as a featured soloist by many orchestras (Camerata of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Lorraine, National Orchestra of Auvergne, Sate Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Symphony and Opera Orchestra of Nancy).
An outstanding interpreter of Debussy, Ravel and their contemporaries, Leclère confirms his full maturity in German repertoire (Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms …), which he performs in solo as well as chamber music contexts. He gives concerts with Augustin Dumay, the Streichquintett of the Berliner Philharmoniker. In addition to his career as a concert artist, Hugues Leclère teaches at the Royal Brussels conservatory.
Sunday’s recital will feature works by Chopin, Liszt, Debussy and Mussorgsky.
The concert begins at
