Paul Kurucz and the Travelers will be performing the summer’s last Tea on the Terrace on August 25 at the Rollin Art Centre.

Our next children’s art camp, for ages seven to12, is picture books, beginning August 16, 17 and 19.

In this camp your child will become an illustrator. We will team up with the kids in The Write Mind Set Creative Writing Program for youth and teens to illustrate the stories written by the participants themselves, although if you’re an author of your own story and would like to illustrate it we encourage that.

Camps run every Tuesday. Wednesday and Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. to12:30 p.m., for ages seven to nine and 1:00-3:30 p.m., for ages 10 to 12, and features a different theme each week.

To close out the summer and prepare for the new school year, our last art camp is titled School Supplies and runs Aug. 23, 24 and 26.

This last summer art program promises a creative outlet children need and enjoy. Call today to pre-register, as space is limited. Weekly camp only $40.

Current exhibit

Julian Growcott is our current artist on display at the Rollin Art Centre, and showcases his original acrylic style paintings.

This very unique exhibit is based on dreams Julian has had since childhood; dreams that are remembered vividly and work in conjunction with childhood memories of England.

This exhibit features an image now realized in acrylics on art board and canvas. Titled, Post Invisible, this exhibit will run until August 26.

Summer

teas

Join us in the garden on Thursday, Aug. 25 to help celebrate the end of the summer.

Our musical guest will be ever-loved musician Paul Kurucz and the Travelers. Paul, and his girls, will surely  entertain you with his love of music and stage presence.

Kurucz always likes to close out the summer with his long list of musical favorites. From folk to pop, Kurucz covers it all.

This musical family is one tea you won’t want to miss.

Tickets are still available, but don’t wait too long, because this tea is always a sell-out.

Another reason to attend is our caterer, Kimberly Kuzma of Harvest Thyme Fine Foods.

Please purchase your tickets today and help support the Rollin Art Centre with our summer fundraiser. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Rollin Art Centre.

Writing workshop

The last two creative writing workshops at the Rollin Art Centre still have room. If you are ages 13 and up and love to write and be creative in your stories, this is the program for you.

Join us Monday, Aug. 15 from 1- 4 p.m. for Magic Realism and Monday, Aug. 22 for Hybrid/Cross-Genre.

The Write Mindset meets the next two Mondays from 1 – 4 p.m.

Writers who participate will be encouraged to try new and varied techniques while still pursuing whatever it is that first attracted them to writing. This program aims to educate and excite youth and teens in the art of creative writing. To register, call the Rollin Art Centre today, 250-724-3412. Space is limited; $15 per week

Call to all artists

The Community Art Centre has a call to artists for a new project; an adult colouring book.

We are currently looking for artists who would like to submit a line drawing, 8” X 10”, of local landmarks or something that reminds you of our wonderful Alberni Valley.

These drawings, black and white only, will be juried and published in a colouring book as a fundraiser for the Community Arts Council and the Rollin Art Centre.

For more info and an application, stop by the Rollin Art Centre.
