Full day of family oriented activities to end the regularseason at the Keremeos Grist Mill

Apple Day on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the wrap up of the visitors season at Keremeos Grist Mill and Gardens.

It’s a half price day with free admission for children six years and under.

Apple Day features  a pancake breakfast from 10 until 11:30 a.m. and barbecued smokies and burgers on sale from noon until 2 p.m.

Artisan candied apples and apple treats will be available.

Family entertainer, Mat Duffus will perform at the outdoor kitchen stage from 1 to 3:30 p.m.   At  2 p.m.  Mat Duffus will take a break while  the apple race is run on Keremeos Creek.

All home baked apple pie entries labeled under the plate or pan are welcome at Grist Mill reception until 1 p.m. October 13.

Apple Pie judging begins at 1 p.m.  with MLA, Linda Larson, Keremeos Mayor Manfred Bauer and Area “B” regional district  Director, George Bush as judges. Pie samples on a plate will be available after the prizes are awarded.

Pie contest winners will redeem  $80, $50 and $35 gift certificates at our closest hardware, dry goods, sporting and housewares store at Osoyoos Home Hardware.

Old varieties of apples will be on display for tasting and some will be for sale.

The Heritage Players will present their short  1890’s melodrama,  Dirty Work at The Stopping Place,  during the noon hour.

Traditional music will happen in the Apple House.  Traditional games will  happen on the mill lawns.

The Grist Mill winds up an events filled 2014 visitors’ season under the management of Chris Mathieson and his team who are under contract with the Province of BC Heritage Branch.
