Surrey’s Chanel Kwong has sung her way to a ‘best pronunciation’ win at a Mandarin singing contest – an accolade she earned despite not having studied the language all that long.

The Kwantlen Polytechnic University year business student enrolled in her first Mandarin language lesson in September.

She outsang 20 finalists before a panel of professors and musicians at the 2015 BC Chinese Bridge Mandarin Singing Contest for university students.
