Platinum Blonde, Chilliwack and others to play free concerts in White Rock this summer

Six-event TD Concerts at the Pier series also features Zep and Eagles tribute bands

White Rock will rock this sumer to the sounds of Platinum Blonde, Chilliwack and several other bands, event organizers announced Tuesday.

The third annual TD Concerts at the Pier series will feature six shows, starting on Thursday, July 6 with a performance by Chilliwack on the Marine Drive waterfront.

The series will close on Saturday, Aug. 19 with music by fellow Canadian band Platinum Blonde.

Admission is free at all concerts in the series, an initiative of White Rock Business Improvement Association in partnership with TD Canada Trust, the City of White Rock and REMAX real estate company.

The concerts will be held on Marine Drive on Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m., with the exception of Saturday events on July 15 at Five Corners shopping district (featuring the R&B Allstars as part of the Tour de White Rock cycling race) and Platinum Blonde’s “grand finale” show on the beach.

Other concerts in the series will feature tribute bands Eagle Eyes (July 20) and Led Zepagain (July 27), as well as Vancouver trio Little Destroyer (Aug. 10, with guests).

“Our White Rock business owners are so excited to bring this series back for another great summer with the biggest and best lineup yet,” BIA president Ernie Klassen stated. “Chilliwack, Platinum Blonde, Zepagain and more – it’s rock and roll nirvana!”

A launch event was held Tuesday at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock. For more series details, visit Whiterockbia.com/concerts-at-the-pier.
