After more than four decades in the music business, Carole Pope can still rock out and she proved it May 24 with an engaging acoustic performance at the Errington Hall.

Pope is best known as the lead singer and co-songwriter for the punk/pop/alternative band Rough Trade from 1975 to 1988.

Before performing her hit High School Confidential she informed the audience that she is not creeping on high school girls … it is just a song.

Pope gave the crowd a wee glimpse into the crazy rock n’ roll life she has lived and shared some tales.  Although she poked fun at her sexuality and everyone else’s for that matter, no one seemed to mind because they would not let her leave the stage without an encore.

Pope, who now lives in New York, joked about performing in the middle of nowhere but she appreciated the love the Errington audience showed her and her partner Tim Welch, who, by the way, rocked the guitar.

Pope played some of her new songs as well as her old hits and with that powerful voice still just as fierce as it was. She proved why she is a Canadian music icon.
