Potter’s place celebrating birthday

The Potter's Place is 20 years old and is celebrating.

The Potter’s Place is 20 years old.

From humble beginnings at Tarbells in Cumberland, through a move into Courtenay and then into its present location, the potters have remained a committed and enthusiastic group of artists who  banded together to provide each other a storefront location.

The success of this adventure is due in no small part to the fabulous membership.

“We are potters and artists and very proud that we sell locally what is produced locally,” the group says. “To that end, the Potter’s Place has become the largest selection of local handmade pottery on Vancouver Island.”

In celebration, “old” members have been asked to return one piece from their own private collections of their work for display this month in the gallery — with their pictures of course.

Come and partake of cake and coffee (provided by the Royston Roasting Company) this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and meet the members.

Donations will go to the Dad’s Ride for Prostate Cancer.

The Potters Place is on the corner of Fifth and Cliffe in the cultural heart of downtown Courtenay. For details, call 250-334-3613, visit www.thepottersplace.ca or like the potters on Facebook.
