The Prince George Youth Orchestra and Friends will perform in Williams Lake on Friday, June 3 starting at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church.

Under the direction of Sebastian Ostertag, the Prince George Youth Orchestra has become one of Northern British Columbia’s most successful youth orchestras that has travelled and performed from Ireland to Venice and America with stops everywhere in between.

Although focusing largely on the music of the great masters such as Vivaldi and Handel, the orchestra isn’t afraid to mix things up with the occasional Irish Jig, or music from the 1590s to the 1990s.

The orchestra will also be performing with special guest violinist Jose Delgado-Guevara, who will astound the audience with excerpts from The Four Seasons. Also joining the Prince George Youth Orchestra will be Ingrid Johnston leading the Williams Lake String Players, who will be playing classical and popular selections for strings.

A program of the Prince George Conservatory of Music, the Prince George Youth Orchestra consists of junior and intermediate orchestras, with many students going on to perform with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles throughout British Columbia.

Members say they have been practicing hard since September and look forward to their performance in Williams Lake.

Admission  is by donation.
