Province gives Hornby Island Arts Council $250,000 towards new building

The Hornby Island Arts Council is receiving $250,000 for the construction of a new 'Art Centre' building.

The Hornby Island Arts Council is receiving $250,000 for the construction of a new ‘Art Centre’ building.

“The construction of a new building will replace the 1960s trailer it currently operates out of so more people can experience the value of art,” said MLA Scott Fraser.

The Hornby Island Arts Council is one of 63 community organizations benefitting from the capital project grant which funds upgrades to community facilities, infrastructure, and equipment.

The funds are coming from the Community Gaming Grants program.

“We’re proud to provide capital funding through Community Gaming Grants program to organizations that are connecting people to services in their communities,” said Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “We are excited to see these investments take shape as they will have a profoundly beneficial effect on people and communities throughout British Columbia.”.
