To view Edna Sigworth’s beautiful quilt, located at St. John’s Anglican Church, is like taking a walk around our beautiful Vancouver Island.
Four years ago, Sigworth saw some Origami work on a baby quilt. Filled with enthusiasm and wonderful plans she started making cloth Origami animals, birds, bugs and flowers all representatives of this Island. Then with great ingenuity she designed the Island itself, surrounded it with the ocean and scenes that she had viewed during her many Island walks. After four years of dedication and some ideas from friends, Sigworth completed this quilting adventure this month May 2011.
A friend of Sigworth’s said when viewing the quilt, “It is like a walk around the Island with you, Edna.”
Sigworth was 16 when she made up her mind that she wanted to live on Vancouver Island. In 1994, she realized her dream.
