Rachel Therrien quintet in Cumberland for single show

Brooklyn-based, trumpeter, composer, and bandleader, Rachel Therrien already boasts an enviable resume.

Known for her very personal signature, she has developed a reputation as a highly-skilled, versatile and creative artist. She’s winner of the 2015 TD Grand Prize Jazz Award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, where she presented her second album Home Inspiration.

Her quintet with Simon Page on bass, Charles Trudel on piano, Alain Bourgeois on drums and Benjamin Deschamps on sax, has released two albums, On Track (2011) and Home Inspiration (2014).

Since the release of the second album on the Multiple Chord Music label, she has toured as a band leader in  the Midwest USA, Ontario, and New York City, in a list of clubs and festivals.

She will soon be releasing her new Afro-Colombian inspired jazz album, Pensamiento, which was recorded in Bogota, Colombia, and starting the production of a third album with her Montreal quintet.

Rachel will also continue to host the Montreal Jazz Composers Series, an event that she founded in 2013 to contribute to Montreal’s jazz community.

Rachel and her quintet hit the Studio Live stage on Saturday, June 25 at 8 p.m. with a show that’s guaranteed to please and excite.
