Space and place

It features works by students who come not only from this area but elswhere in Canada, as well as Hong Kong, China, and even Inner Mongolia.

In this increasingly mobile world, the exhibit explores space and place, memory, dreams, reflections, refugees, politics and more.

The exhibit is up until Saturday and the public can view it at the White Rock Museum & Archives, 14970 Marine Drive.

Marcel Bergmann’s piano playing will be complimented by the clarinet work of a Juno Award winner in a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

In the Rose Gellert Hall of the Langley Community Music School, Bergmann will be joined by James Campbell, an Order of Canada recipient in the final concert of the LCMS season.

Expect an eclectic evening with works such as a clarinet sonata by Saint-Saens, Latin and jazz tinged tunes, and works by Canadian composers as well as a bit of Dave Brubeck for good measure.

“The repertoire features many different styles and moods — from the lyrical and introverted to swing and driven Latin rhythms,” says LCMS artistic director, Elizabeth Bergmann. “Campbell’s personal connection with some of the composers and their works promise to make this an enjoyable and inspired concert. And Marcel’s talent for blending the best of jazz and classical will make for an evening that is sure to be terrific fun.”

Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, $16 for students, and $10 for LCMS students. Call the box office at 604-534-2848 or visit langleymusic.com.
