The Regional District of Nanaimo’s parks and rec department and The Old Schoolhouse Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach want you to create butterfly art.
They have teamed up to bring the Butterfly Art Project online, inviting artists of all ages and abilities to take part.
When you go online at REC Connect, there are templates, plus butterfly and colour facts to inspire you.
Butterflies can be any size or style and creativity is welcomed. You are also invited to share your poetry, songs, dances and any artistic interpretation of butterflies you can think of.
Photos of the butterfly art will be shared online, and it is hoped that when facilities reopen the butterflies will migrate back to be put on display.
TOSH volunteers spent countless hours making watercolour paper butterflies that were delivered to area schools. Due to closures, the project was reimagined and is now being hosted online through REC Connect.
