Close your eyes and just listen.
Chilliwack is getting ready to celebrate World Read Aloud Day on March 6, says organizer Maude Stephany.
“There are events being planned all over the world, and Chilliwack is joining in the fun,” she says.
Everyone is invited to participate as Chilliwack residents come together to share their love of reading aloud as well as being read to, on Wednesday March 6, at Decades Coffee Club from noon to six p.m.
“During this celebration of reading, each reader will share a part of the chapter, page, character or scene from a book that made them fall in love with reading,” says Stephany.
Some of the confirmed readers so far include local author Glenda Standeven, actress Nancy Guitar, Bernie Constable of Toastmasters, magician Erik Stephany, and many more.
Anyone who would like to read aloud can still sign up. Guidelines are simple. The material must be suitable for all ages and inclusive of all faiths, in other words, no risqué material or anything with f-bombs. Please contact mstephany@shaw.ca for more details or a time slot for reading.
This event is in partnership with Decades Coffee Club, The Book Man, Logan’s Home Hardware, Kick Ass Cakes, Sticky’s Candy, Clothes2U, Erin Lacey Social Media, Gaetano Aldo Aramin Personal Trainer, as well as local author and event coordinator Maude Stephany.
More is available at the Read Aloud Facebook page.
