Ready, set, Glow! Christmas festival opens in Abbotsford

Event at Tradex features a million lights, live entertainment and more

The world’s largest indoor Christmas festival arrives in Abbotsford on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Glow – featuring 90,000 square feet of family-friendly and festive activities under the twinkle of a million lights – is held at Tradex at the Abbotsford Airport until Jan. 4.

The popular event was previously held in Langley, but is now taking place in Abbotsford, with a second B.C. location in Vancouver.

Last year saw about 120,000 people check out the festivities in Langley.

The 2019 theme for Glow Abbotsford is “Santa’s Sleigh Adventure.” Guests will help Santa and his elves find his reindeer as they explore fun new ways to deliver presents using hot air balloons, planes, trains, motorcycles and more.

The festival also includes playgrounds and licensed bars.

There will also be a local vendor holiday market along with live music and entertainment, including the Pat Chessel Band, Brooklyn and Summer, Electric Mistletoe, the Langley Ukuleles and more.

“This is the first time that Glow is being held in Abbotsford, and we’re particularly excited about the adventure-themed light displays we have lined up for guests at this location,” said Breanne Kanis, Glow Abbotsford event manager.

The festival’s expansion features seven cities in Canada – besides Abbotsford and Vancouver, the event is in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Halifax and Ottawa – and one in Odense, Denmark.

The Vancouver location is set inside the Harbour Convention Centre in the downtown core.
