Bluegrass fans will have their plates full when John Reischman and the dynamic and youthful Pine Siskins fly in for a concert of new tunes and songs at the Little Red Church in Comox on Saturday, March 17.
Reischman, often on the road with his band, the Jaybirds, delights in pulling together the Pine Siskins for sizzling side trips. With him on mandolin, he has recruited Eli West on guitar, Patrick Metzger on bass and Comox raised Trent Freeman on fiddle.
With melodies that play to the soul, rhythm that infects the body, and tone that engulfs the heart, these trademarks of Reischman and his young cohorts will enthrall the audience. This group of world-class musicians perform both original and traditional tunes rooted in bluegrass and old time music. They’ll rip out beautiful yet blistering lines that flow through the rivers of history into the rapids of contemporary sounds.
Be sure to get to the cozy church hall early to settle in for an evening of energetic bluegrass and old-time music played by some of the upcoming stars of the musical world. Doors open 7:00 p.m., show starts 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $20/$10 at Long & McQuade, Courtenay and Blue Heron, Comox. Fore more information, call Craig at 250- 339-4249.
