This summer your child can learn to draw like da Vinci, mix colours like Raphael and sculpt like Michelangelo.

Registration is now open for an all new children’s summer art camp program hosted by the ArtSea Community Arts Council. North Saanich artist Leslie Hunter, who has many years experience working with children, will lead the messy exploration into unlocking the secrets of Renaissance masters.

“She’s going to use the history of Renaissance to get the kids excited about creating,” says Marie Savage, marketing director of the Council.

Students will be exposed to a wide variety of mediums such as water colours, acrylics and clay and wire; all they need to bring is an old shirt to participate.

There are separate sessions for children six to eight years old Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to noon. The cost is $35 for the week. Sessions for children nine to 13 run Monday to Friday, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The cost for the week is $60. Week One is July 3 to 7; Week Two is July 10 to 14.

The classes take place – rain or shine – on the covered deck at the ArtSea Gallery at Tulista Park in Sidney.

Registration is open until June 27 at www.cacsp.com.

Each class can take 10 students; to avoid disappointment, register early.
