TVisitors to this 35-year survey of work by senior Canadian artist Ann Kipling will be able to take a comprehensive look at the sweep of the artist’s work since she began living near Falkland in 1976.
Ann Kipling: The Falkland Drawings is the first solo exhibition of Kipling’s work ever organized by the Kelowna Art Gallery. The show features 87 works that focus almost entirely on her work with the landscape, or, as Kipling prefers to say, the natural environment. The works are hung in chronological order, so that viewers experience the changes in her work over time as they move around the gallery.
Kipling is a senior Canadian artist who works exclusively on paper (in drawing, printmaking or with ink or paint). She was born in Victoria in 1934 and studied at the Vancouver School of Art. Kipling lived in Richmond, Lynn Valley, Oyama and for the last 37 years, in the countryside near Falkland.
The exhibition is accompanied by a colour catalogue, with a text by Vancouver-based writer on art, Robin Laurence.
An opening reception to celebrate this exhibition will be held on Friday, March 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Kelowna Art Gallery. Kipling will be in attendance and will offer remarks at 7 p.m. This will be a free event, open to members and guests, by invitation.

This in-depth look at Kipling;s work is the third in the Kelowna Art Gallery’s Okanagan Series of major solo shows by local or regional artists, accompanied by full-scale publications.
