For those who loved A Night at the Palace at the Errington Hall last month and are yearning for another vaudeville inspired show, you won’t want to miss Maria in the Shower on Saturday, March 8.

The Errington Hall will once again provide a cabaret like atmosphere with a four-piece band from Vancouver that has been described as part cabaret, part punk and part folk. Cabaret is a well-loved form of entertainment featuring comedy, song, dance, and theatre and Maria in the Shower’s musical collaboration is an eclectic mix of all of the above. The boys of Maria are skilled performers who deliver true folk songs, ballads, rockabilly, blues, Gypsy soul and more.

Formed by Martin Reisle (voice/guitar/cello/trombone) and Jack Garton (voice/accordion/trumpet) as a vehicle to explore the fringe of music and theatre, their journey has taken them across Canada, the USA and to parts of Europe. Appearing in various configurations from duo to quintet and on occasion with a full symphony orchestra – they are consistently creative, thought provoking, and unpredictable.

Born in 2005, Maria’s cult status in the Vancouver underground gave way to ovations from the mainstream after the release of their first full band recording in 2011. Each of their shows is a complete performance in the vaudeville tradition and is full of passion and often instigates fits of infectious dancing.

Tickets for the March 8 show are $20 and can be purchased at Cranky Dog Music in Parksville, the Errington Store and Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach.
