The Rock Out Cancer benefit hits Evergreen Hall for the third year in row on April 27 in support of the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
It’s a fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation, presented by Team Rock the $#@! Out of Cancer to raise money for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
They’ve raised $110,000 in the past three years, with 16 members, nine of whom are from Chilliwack. The goal this year is to raise $50,000.
“The dance party is the team’s largest fund raising event and is this year expected to exceed the $15,000 that was raised in 2012,” said Team Captain Wayne Oberst.
The Rock Out Cancer dance party lineup includes the Essential Heart tribute band, Barracuda, the Vacationers, Mick Dalla-Vee, Rock Therapy, Andrew Putt and Rachael Chatoor.
Barracuda is so good they’ve had original members of Heart attend and even participate at their shows. The (legendary) Vacationers will keep people dancing all night long.
Mick Dalla-Vee is a bass and guitar player for Randy Bachman, who sings all the Burton Cummings vocals for Bachman’s Vinyl Tap show.
Rock Therapy is the house band with members of Team Rock the $#@! Out of Cancer. They performed at last year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer as well as at many venues around the lower mainland in support of Cancer Research with the original song, “The Journey, Miles to Go, written by Oberst about the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Artists Andrew Putt and Rachael Chatoor are back as well.
As part of their fundraising efforts, there will be a silent auction at the Rock Show, featuring a Gibson Les Paul guitar that was signed by Randy Bachman at his Vinyl Tap show on April 13.
