Rockin’ For Reach is back with Jim Byrnes

Event raises money for a new community-based child development centre in Delta.

Legendary Vancouver bluesman Jim Byrnes will join the band Incognito this year to help raise funds for Reach Child and Youth Development Society at the third annual Rockin’ for Reach benefit concert and dance.

The event will once again take place at the Kinvillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen, this year on Saturday, Nov. 8 and will raise funds through ticket sales, a 50/50 draw, a $5 rock n’ roll photo booth and a silent auction which includes a #16 Canucks jersey signed by Trevor Linden and an electric guitar autographed by BB King.

Graph Tech Guitar and Regional Recycling are presenting sponsors of the event, along with other sponsors Kinsmen Club of Ladner Tsawwassen, Autofleet.biz, University Sprinklers, Westland Insurance, Boutique Blanche and the Cliff Drive PAC fundraising team.

Since its beginning Rockin’ for Reach has raised a total of $20,000 towards Reach’s Building for Children Together capital campaign, which is raising funds to build a new community-based child development centre in Ladner for children and youth with special needs such as autism, Down syndrome and FASD.The new centre will include and inclusive preschool, therapy rooms, and large meeting hall and an accessible playground for community use.

To date Reach has raised $2,000,000 of the $4 million campaign goal, and is planning to break ground on the project in October of next year.

Tickets for Rockin for Reach are $25 and are available at Videoland in Ladner and at Petra’s café in Tsawwassen or at Reach at #3-3800 72 Street in east Ladner. The event is for ages 19 and over only.
