Pacifica Ball and Island Pro-Am dance competition happens in Saanich; Choir seeks singers for summer season

Dance the weekend away in Saanich

Saanich Commonwealth Place will be all things dance this weekend, as Pacifica Dance hosts the Pacifica Ball and Vancouver Island Closed Pro-Am Competition.

More than 150 competitors from Canada and the United States will strut their stuff on the dance floor over the course of the two-day event (May 31 and June 1).

Ballroom dancers Joel and Clara Marasigan also host separate workshops at the Les Passmore Centre from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday (286 Hampton Rd.).

Available tickets start at $15 and go up, depending on which event you want to see.

Summer Choir seeks singers

The Saanich-based Victoria Summer Choir is looking for a sopranos, altos, tenors and bass to join the choir for the 2014 season. This year’s theme is Forgotten Gems from Classic to Pop.

Choir rehearsals begin Tuesday (June 3) at St. Peters Anglican Church Lakehill (3939 St Peter’s Rd.). Rehearsal is from 7 to 9 p.m.
