This year’s annual Members’ Juried Exhibition at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery is based on the number 75.
“It’s the 75th anniversary of the building we’re in, so each submission is supposed to connect, in some way, to the number 75,” says SAGA executive director Tracey Kutschker, noting each artist is allowed to submit two pieces.
Submissions will be judged by two jurors, one local and one from out of town.
“Not every piece submitted is accepted, but we are hoping to hang some 50 to 60 pieces,” she says. “Until we see what comes through the door, we won’t really know what the show will look like or what shape it will take.”
Works are judged on clarity of theme, quality of composition, handling of medium and overall impression. They also have to be new works.
“The multi-media show will include paintings, pottery and fibre art, as well as wood and metal sculptures,” says Kutschker, who adds she is excited about some of the new artists who have indicated they have been working on pieces for the show.”
“75” opens with a reception at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, with live music and refreshments.
