Saturday night is jazz night at lelәm´ Arts & Cultural Café

Fort Langley café welcomes Dave Quinn and Ron Thompson Sept. 6

If you love the sound of jazz, plan to drop by lelәm´ Arts & Cultural Café in Fort Langley for Saturday Night Jazz, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.  to hear the smooth swingin’ style of Dave Quinn with RazzMaJazz and friends.

Lelem’s newly established Saturday Night Jazz will feature Dave Quinn on clarinet and saxophone with special guests each week, starting with veteran jazz guitarist, Ron Thompson on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Other upcoming featured guests include New Orleans vocalist and guitar player, Bruce Gerrish, Boogie Woogie blues pianist and vocalist, Mike Van Eyes and bebop jazz trumpet player Norm Quinn.

RazzMaJazz is a well-known Lower Mainland jazz group made up of seasoned musicians. It started its musical journey in 1998 on the paddle wheeler boat that travelled up the Fraser River from New Westminster to Fort Langley. Since then RazzMaJazz, from their duo up to a seven-piece ensemble, has performed at hundreds of music festivals and corporate, community and private events throughout B.C.

Quinn says he put the band together because he wanted to perform traditional jazz and blues style music.

“Its music that is fun, upbeat and often inspires people of all ages to dance and sing along,” said Quinn.

Since moving to Fort Langley last year when his daughter started attending Langley Fine Arts, Quinn was looking for a local opportunity to play his style of jazz and blues.

“Lelem is a perfect venue for this style of jazz and blues music, being it’s an arts and cultural café that is accessible to all ages,” said Quinn. “I’m looking forward to bringing jazz to Fort Langley on Saturday nights.”

“We are excited to offer guests the chance to experience live jazz while they enjoy one of our weekend dinner features, special desserts and beverages,” said Rocky Nenka, manager of lelәm´ Arts & Cultural Café.

“RazzMaJazz will anchor our evolving music program that will feature other exciting arts and cultural events in our “home”, Lelem.”

Named after our word for house/a place to gather, lelәm´ Arts & Cultural Café serves local organic cuisine with a First Nations twist on the riverfront in historic Fort Langley.
