A group of young, talented musicians are bringing their traditional and original Scottish music to Qualicum Beach this Sunday and Monday.
The Paul McKenna Band will put on workshops at The Beaton’s home followed by a concert at the Oceanside Community Baptist Church, beside the train station, both in Qualicum Beach. The five member band all have a host of music teaching experience and are well known around the UK for their fresh take on traditional and folk music. Accompanying the group’s stellar vocals are sounds of intense fiddle-playing, guitar, bouzouki, flute, whistles and percussion. The group will only perform one other show in B.C. before heading to Tennessee.
The workshops happen from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.13 Each workshop is an hour and a half long and costs $20, including coffee, tea and goodies.
The concert will take place on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
