Organizers are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for Seedy Saturday in Qualicum Beach.

Organizers are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for Seedy Saturday in Qualicum Beach.

This year’s event, said organizer Sandy Glazier, kicks off at 10 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 5 at the Civic Centre.

“Seedy Saturday has activities to keep you busy all day,” Glazier said. “You can take seeds to swap at the traditional seed swap, with over 70 vendors and there’s no lack of opportunity to buy seeds, as well as other garden-related items.”

This year’s event will also feature a farmer’s market on the main stage and Milner Gardens will have a presence with the Shoots with Roots program for children. A special Seedy Cafe will be on site for those in need of a snack.

Glazier noted this year’s event will feature a raffle, giving participants a chance to win a hand-blown vase by noted glass artist Ted Jolda.

Proceeds go to Seedy Saturday and the environmental groups they help support.
