Nikita Afonso and Andrew Parkhouse will take to the stage at Shambhala Hall this Friday to present a lively country/rock show, full of originals and covers from bands like The Eagles and the Zac Brown Band.
Afonso is a singer/songwriter from Penticton, currently attending the Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College. By performing at festivals, coffee shops, restaurants, weddings and markets in her home town, she worked her way to a sold out ‘Nikita and the Offramp Ensemble’ concert held at the Cleland Theatre, recording a self titled CD full of originals, and also having the opportunity to open for Canadian Country act Paul Brandt. Nikita and her new band, The Reckless Revolvers, have been together for seven months preparing every aspect of this new show that will have you singing along and stomping your feet.
Parkhouse is a singer/songwriter from Atwood, Ontario and currently plays in a number of bands here in Nelson. He’s been seen on local stages with Ash Grunwald and Erica Dee, as well as performing with his band The Magpies. He’s currently attending the Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College and his fist EP album Awol is due out by the end of March. He plans on taking the band on the road in the summer. Andrew Parkhouse and The Magpies have been together for about a year now playing at wedding and bars and will have you groovin’ from start to finish.
Don’t miss these talented musicians performing on Friday, March 28 at Shambhala Hall at Selkirk College’s Tenth Street Campus. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the music will start at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation.
