Health, budget, local economy and jobs subject of conversations

The Shuswap Food Action Co-op hosts a free six-week conversation on the interconnections between health, budget, local economy and jobs from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Okanagan College.

On Sept. 13, “Older Than Canada: Indigenous food in the Shuswap,” with Patricia White and Bart Thomas will examine food sovereignty.

On Sept. 20, Warren Bell speaks to “The Morality of Food: The Choices We Make Matter.”

“Making a Living Making Food: Lessons from the Front Line,” is the focus of the Sept. 27 session with Janice Cannon and Len Marriott, founder of Terroir Cheese.

Registered dietitian and columnist Serena Caner presents “Food (Not Fu:D): Getting Your Kids to Eat Real Food”on Oct. 4.

Rebecca Kneen and Brian MacIsaac of Crannog Ales Brewery and Left Field Organic Farm discuss quality products, environmental stewardship and integrity on Oct. 11.

The fall series concludes Oct. 18 with Louise and Herman Bruns of Wildflight Farm presenting “Growing Food in the 21st Century: Old, New and Groundbreaking Practices.”
