March 13 to April 26 – Unexpected Garden features paintings and constructions by Ross Bollerup at the Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre from March 13 to April 26. Opening reception is set for Saturday, March 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Gallery hours: Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., plus some evenings during theatre performances.

March 14/15 – The Vedder Golden Branch 280 has live music Friday and Saturday with dancing from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. This weekend it’s Cheek to Cheek.
March 15 – Take part in the Salish Weaving Community Project today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stó:lō Resource Centre (10-7201 Vedder Rd.). Create a weaving that will be housed at the SRC for all to enjoy, and practise techniques on individual looms that will be set up. The event features a traditional Stó:lō welcome, local Salish weaver Frieda George, and a salmon and bannock dinner by donation. 604-858-3366.
March 16 – Cris Derksen the aboriginal ‘Punk Rock Cellist’ performs at the Cultural Centre today at 7:30 p.m. Admission by donation.
March 17 to 21 – Sign your kids up for spring break camps at the Cultural Centre. Arts include clay hand building, painting, drawing, acting, music and crafts. There are both morning and afternoon camps for kids aged 5 to 8, and full-day camps for kids 8 and older. Now to March 23 – UFV Theatre presents a contemporary version of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at UFV’s Performance Theatre (45635 Yale Rd.). The production runs March 5 to 23 at UFV’s Performance Theatre at 45635 Yale Road (at Airport Road). Show times: evening performances (7:30 p.m.) are March 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22; and Sunday matinees (2 p.m.) are March 16 and 23. Student matinees at 12 p.m. are March 12 and 13.
