A.D. Rundle middle school theatre presents Sinister Stories and Toxic Tales April 8 to 10 at the school (45660 Hocking Ave.). This student written original play explores the world of fairy tales through an often dark humour. Tickets: $3/students, $5/adults. Note: Play contains dark themes. Not recommended for children under 12.

The Vedder Golden Branch 280 has live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Dancing to the music of Heist goes from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Rock the $#@! Out of Cancer is a two-night benefit concert to raise money for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. The event runs April 11 (club night) and 12 (classic rock night) at Echo Room Nightclub. Bands include: Destineak, The Smiley Family Band, Pardon My Striptease, Radio One, Rock Therapy, Swaggerjack, and DJ No-Ginger-Like-This-Ginger. The Agassiz Monday Painters’ 53rd annual Art Show is today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Agassiz United Church Hall (6860 Lougheed Hwy.). Free admission. All artwork is for sale.

The New Life Christian Church presents its second annual sing-along program of traditional Easter music accompanied by the Chilliwack Songs of Praise Orchestra at 3:30 p.m. at Vedder elementary (45850 Promontory Rd.). Evensong Chamber Singers present its annual Lenten Vespers concert at 4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church (9460 Charles St.) and on Good Friday (April 18) at Sardis Community Church (45625 South Sumas Rd.) at 4 p.m. The service features the Easter selections of Handel’s Messiah. Designated offering for Canadian Lutheran World Relief and MCC programs.

The Easter Praise Concert featuring choirs from St. Thomas Anglican, St. Paul’s Lutheran and St. Mary’s Catholic churches, is at St. Paul’s (8871 School St.) at 3 p.m. Admission is free. Please bring a donation for the Salvation Army food bank.

The Chilliwack International Film Series runs until May 7 at Cottonwood 4 Cinemas. Films are screened Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Tonight’s movie is The Invisible Woman; UK; English; 111 min; 14A; Drama.

Now to April 17 – Local artist Marie McGill brings her solo exhibition, British Columbia Inspirations, to the Chambers Gallery at the Chilliwack Museum March 8 to April 17. Gallery hours are Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission $3/adults and $2/seniors and students.

Now to April 26 – Unexpected Garden features paintings and constructions by Ross Bollerup at the Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre from March 13 to April 26. Gallery hours: Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., plus some evenings during theatre performances.
