May 1 to 31 – Local photographer, Garth White, has an exhibit on display at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve (5200 Sumas Prairie Rd.) for the month of May. www.chilliwackblueheron.com. 604-823-6603

April 25 to June 1 – The annual District 33 Art exhibit is on display at the Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre April 25 to June 1. The show features artwork by local high school students. Gallery hours: Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., plus some evenings during shows in the theatre.

May 27 to June 1 – Chilliwack School of Performing Arts presents its Spring Festival May 27 to June 1 at Chilliwack Victory Church (45899 Henderson Ave.). The festival includes the following performances: The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Jr., Honk, Basically Good Kids, The Velveteen Rabbit, and The Reluctant Dragon. May 1 to June 2 – The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association presents Celebration of the Arts at the Royal Hotel (45886 Wellington Ave.). The lobby, café and homestead room will be transformed for the month of May with a free exhibit of original and creative paintings and art pieces in a variety of media. The exhibit is open Sundays to Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

May 1 to Oct. 2 – The Eco Market runs every Wednesday evening (4 to 8 p.m.) at Sardis Park from now to Oct. 2. The market features local artists, live music, fresh food and more. The market’s juried artisans offer works in a variety of media including glass, textiles and fibre arts, wood, ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, photography, basketry, recycled and mixed media and metalwork. All work is handmade by the artist who is on site.

May 31 – The Chilliwack branch of the B.C. Registered Music Teachers’ Association hosts its Spring Recital tonight at Chilliwack United Church (45835 Spadina Ave.). The junior recital is at 6:30 p.m., and the senior recital is at 8 p.m. The event features piano, violin and voice students of the registered music teachers with guest performance by the winner of the Joanne Stoutjesdyk scholarship.

May 31 – Electro-folk musician Tamara Nile performs with Melissa Bandura tonight at Bozzini’s at 9:30 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.). Tickets $19 and available at Bozzini’s or call 604-792-0744 to reserve.

June 1 to 2 – Creative Outlet Studio presents two dance performances, Little Steps and Footsteps, by young dancers on Saturday and Sunday. Little Steps is at 11 a.m. each day, and Footsteps is at 2 p.m. each day, at the Cultural Centre. Tickets $10 (students/adults) for Little Steps, $12 (students) and $16 (adults) for Footsteps, and kids 3 and under are $5. June 6 to July 20 – The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association presents Abstract in Action by Nasser Ghaderi from June 6 to July 20 in the Art Gallery at the Cultural Centre. Gallery hours are Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
