May 1 to Oct. 2 – The Eco Market runs every Wednesday evening (4 to 8 p.m.) at Sardis Park from now to Oct. 2. The market features local artists, live music, fresh food and more. The market’s juried artisans offer works in a variety of media including glass, textiles and fibre arts, wood, ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, photography, basketry, recycled and mixed media and metalwork. All work is handmade by the artist who is on site.

June 10 to Aug. 10 – The eighth annual Friends of the Chilliwack Library Photo Contest runs June 10 to Aug. 10. Photos must have been taken in the Fraser Valley between September 2012 and August 2013. Amateur photographers from Chilliwack, Sardis, Yarrow and Agassiz can enter. July 5 to Aug. 30 – The Eco Market runs every Friday evening (5 to 9 p.m.) at Cultus Lake from July 5 to Aug. 30. The market is located at Main Beach beside parking lot B, and features local artists, live music, fresh food and more.

July 5 to Aug. 23 – Downtown Chilliwack’s popular Party in the Park is held every Friday night of the summer from July 5 to Aug. 23. Live music hits the entertainment stage from 6 to 10 p.m., kids can hang out at the family fun zone from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and an expanded night market will be from 6 to 10 p.m. The concerts take place at Central Community Park, and the vendors line the streets of Wellington Avenue and Mill Street.

July 25 to Sept. 7 – The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association has its group show, Return to the Garden, on display in the Art Gallery at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre July 25 to Sept. 7. Opening reception is Sat., July 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. Gallery hours: Wednesdays to Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m., plus some evenings during show performances.

Aug. 9 to 11 – The 141st annual Chilliwack Fair takes place this weekend at Heritage Park. There will be live music, comedy, magic and more entertainment every day. For more info, including admission costs, go to www.chilliwackfair.com or call 604-824-8191.

Starting Aug. 12 – The Chilliwack and District Senior Resources Society has beginner’s line dancing classes for seniors every Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould St.). Cost is $2.

Rosedale Traditional Community School Society is offering a variety of summer day camps throughout the months of July and August. There are several camps open to kids aged 6-12, and include dancing, sports, music, arts, crafts, cooking, and more. Camps range in price. The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society is in need of volunteers to help out with current and future art classes being offered at the Cultural Centre. For more info, call 604-391-SHOW (7469).

Sign up for summer art classes offered by the Chilliwack Arts Council. Classes for kids aged 3 to 12 include arts, crafts, cooking and drama. Classes run throughout the summer and begin in July.
