May 16/17 – The Royal Canadian Branch 280 has live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. This weekend there’s dancing from 7:30 to 11:30 (both days) to the music of ValleyFyre Band.

May 17/18 – The Harrison Art Show runs May 17 and 18 at Harrison Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

May 17 – It’s Acoustic Night at The Wellington featuring local musician Damian Brennan at 7:30 p.m.

May 18 – The Chilliwack Players Guild presents the 2014 Fraser Valley Zone Theatre Festival May 18-23 featuring productions from various Fraser Valley theatre outlets throughout the week. Now to June 6 – Local artist Zona Wale has a solo exhibition on display at The Art Room (#20-5725 Vedder Rd.) from May 10 to June 6. She has studied art in Regina, Serbia, Spain, and Mexico.

Now to June 7 – Art 33, the annual Chilliwack District 33 high school art exhibition, runs until June 7 at the Chilliwack Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre. The artwork is by G.W., Chilliwack and Sardis secondary’s Grade 10-12 students. Gallery hours are Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.

Now to June 8 – The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association has its Celebration of the Arts show at the Royal Hotel from May 6 to June 8 where the lobby, cafĂ© and Homestead Room will be transformed with a free art exhibition. Gallery hours are: Sundays to Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. From time to time, there will also be one or two ‘artists in residence’, sitting doing their artwork as you come in the door.

Now to June 12 – Artist Grazyna Wolski has her solo exhibition, Brilliant Blossoms, on display at the Chilliwack Museum until June 12. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. www.grazynawolski.com.
