Aug. 14 – Southside Rocks the River, a free outdoor music series on the grass, takes place on Aug. 14, Aug. 21, and Aug. 28 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tonight’s lineup is Gerald Charlie, Dear Father, Mike Alleckna, MaggPie, Full Tilt, and Matt Lowen. The stage will be set up in a field near the Vedder Rotary Trail parking lot. Enter the parking lot from Vedder Road, and the concert set up will be located just to the right of it.

Aug. 15/16 – The Vedder Golden Branch 280 has live music with dancing from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. This weekend it’s Steve Hillis.

Aug. 15 – Party in the Park takes place tonight from 5 to 10 p.m. at Central Community Park and the surrounding downtown area streets. Tonight’s theme is ‘Farmers’ Night’ and the entertainment lineup features John Welsh Band, Amanda Thate Band, Barefoot, Nikki Werner, and Lounge Hounds.

Aug. 16 – Art on the Farm is celebrating its 10th season this year at Barking Dog Farm (1162 Iverson Rd.) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features various artists and their goods such as jewellery, textiles, painting, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and more. There will also be food, entertainment and children’s activities. Free admission. www.artonthefarm.ca

Aug. 16/17 – Chilliwack Flight Fest takes place this weekend with a barbecue steak dinner and hangar dance (19+) on Saturday night and a twilight airshow at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the airshow takes place at the Chilliwack Airport featuring several aerobatic planes starting at 1 p.m., plus a pie-eating contest (kids 12 and under) at 4 p.m. Sunday’s airshow is free. www.chilliwackairshow.ca

Aug. 18 to 22 – Sign your kids up now for the upcoming week-long Cosmic Kids summer art class at the Cultural Centre. Get ready to blast off to a week filled with all sorts of space themed activities with Cosmic Kids, and boldly go where no one has gone before with a week full of galactic fun. Class runs Aug. 18-22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is for kids aged 6-10 years. Cost is $150. Call 604-391-SHOW(7469) for more info and to register.

Aug. 20 – Music and More takes place every Wednesday evening from July 2 to Aug. 27 featuring music, entertainment, arts and crafts, theatre and more at both the Chilliwack Library (5-7 p.m.) and the Sardis Library (4-6 p.m.) on alternating Wednesdays. Tonight’s event is at the Sardis Library and features the Chilliwack Arts Council, a drum circle, and Zaac Pick.

Now to Sept. 6 – The Cultus Lake Saturday Market in the Park at Main Beach runs every Saturday now until Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. www.cultuslakecommunity.com

Now to Sept. 11 – Members of the Golden Palette Art Club currently have their work on display at The Art Room until Sept. 11. The gallery is located at 20-5725 Vedder Rd. and is open Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Now to October – The Eco Market runs every Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sardis Park featuring locals artists, farmers and more. www.theecomarket.ca

Now to Sept. 13 – Diane White’s solo exhibition, H2O Under Attack, is at the Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre Aug. 2 to Sept. 13. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, and 6 to 8 p.m. on show evenings.

Now to Sept. 26. – Photographer and writer Margaret Evans presents an exploration of the 50-million year evolution of horses in North America with her solo exhibition Horses From the Mists of Time at the Chilliwack Museum Aug. 9 to Sept. 26. Admission: $3/adults and $2/seniors and students.
