Show must go on

Salmon Arm theatre group is in immediate need of two male actors to perform in a comedy due to open March 1.

The show may not go on.

Time is running out to replace two actors who had to withdraw from Shuswap Theatre’s Main Stage production of The Curious Savage.

Needed are one male, aged 20-plus, and another male 50-plus.

“It’s a stellar cast, including Julia Body, Peter Blacklock, and Hailey McDonnell, who performed in Renovations, and in last summer’s Villains and Vittles dinner theatre production at Haney Heritage Theatre,” says Shuswap Theatre Society president Monica Kriese. “And it’s being directed by Lois Duell-Archer, who is a talent all her own.”

Due to run March 1 to 9,The Curious Savage by John Patrick takes the audience back to 1945.

This is a comedic play about Ethel P. Savage, a woman whose husband died and left her approximately $10 million.

Her stepchildren feel she is spending the money foolishly and, when they cannot get their hands on the cash, commit her to a sanatorium, hoping to bring her to her senses,

The play sets up a contrast between the guests of The Cloisters and Savage’s stepchildren, leaving the audience to decide for themselves who truly needs to be brought to their senses.

The play also questions conventional definitions of sanity while lampooning celebrity culture.

If you are interested in performing in this comedy, get in touch immediately with Lois Archer-Duell at 250-804-2998, or email Karen Sansom at kgsansom@okanagan.bc.ca.
