More than 70 fabric creations are on display at the Sidney Museum courtesy of local quilting group The Moxie Quilting Madams.
This year’s exhibit showcases a rare, finished, Dear Jane quilt. The quilt is sewn from 225 different patterns, originally pieced together in 1863 by Jane A. Stickle. This hand pieced pattern has become a classic worldwide with its non-traditional, geometric blocks and triangles, creative in its composition, innovative in its originality of design.
The exhibit will feature more than 70 quilts, wall hangings, tea cozies, table runners and more. The oldest quilt — Initial Quilt — is made of flour sacking and was sewn in 1935 by a local resident Nellie Griffith Seaton and friends. Each block is hand embroidered by friends and family.
The show is a self-guided tour with each quilt labeled with information as well, some of the quilt group have offered to be on hand for quilting demonstrations and to offer information, when groups pre-book tours.
