Gallery owner and long-time painter, Odette LaRoche couldn’t be happier about her new, renovated gallery space.
“My aim was to incorporate both a gallery space and a studio space into one and that’s exactly what I was able to do,” said LaRoche of her re-vamped showroom.
LaRoche Gallery, which has been in Sidney for about a decade, was first located near the Port Sidney Marina. Five years ago, LaRoche decided to make the move to a more central location on Beacon Avenue where she would have more space.
At first, LaRoche took up two spaces in the building but then decided to merge the gallery and studio spaces. Last year, she came to a crossroads.
“I realized in 2010 I had to either re-vamp my space into something more practical for both the gallery and my teaching space, or give it up. I knew I didn’t want to give it up so I decided to make a big change and sit back and see what would happen,” she said.
Happy with the new layout of the combined gallery and work space, LaRoche is looking forward to a busy summer. The gallery has room for an airy display area where LaRoche will be exclusively showing her own art, and ample space for the classes she offers for all ages. The grand re-opening of the gallery will take place on June 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
