In light of the disturbing events at Fukushima, Japan, the latest theatrical offering by Thin Ice Theatre is timely indeed.

The play, entitled, The Petition, is set in the 1980s and imagines the clash between a retired British general and his wife when he discovers she has signed a petition to ban the bomb. Their discussion about nuclear arms is but a portal into the dissection of a long marriage that has had its share of ups and downs. The strength of their love is challenged, but they emerge as strong lifelong partners.

The Petition features the award-winning talents of Maureen Cusack and Gordon Maya and is directed by Ann Gates.

Thin Ice Theatre and Ultimate Live Productions present this poignant, touching and sometimes funny play about the triumph of love at the Joe Cunningham Gallery at the Oceanside Arts Centre on May 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14, starting at 7:30 p.m.
