On Jan. 28, Altrusa begins celebrating their organization’s 100th anniversary with the return of Mama Mia, a sing-along movie starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
Funds raised from the event will help fund some of the more than 30 projects and local not for profit organizations Altrusa International Club of Campbell River supports each year.
Have you ever been to a musical and had the uncontrollable urge to burst into song? Now you can! Escape with Altrusa for a fun-filled evening on a “Greek Island” right here in Campbell River. Watch the movie, sing, dance, laugh and maybe even shed a few tears.
This fun adventure takes place on a Greek paradise island and tells the story of a young girl’s search for her father’s identity on the eve of her wedding. Set to the timeless music of ABBA, it is a tale of love, laughter and friendship.
The film features 27 of ABBA’s best known tracks including Dancing Queen, Take a Chance on Me, and I Have a Dream. Everyone is welcome to sing along to these well-loved tunes and dance in the aisles if you feel like it. There will be a costume contest with some great prizes! People are welcome to come in their favourite Mamma Mia! costume or just come and join in the fun.
So get those vocal cords warmed up, find your best Mamma Mia costume and unleash your inner “Dancing Queen.”
Give yourself or others the gift of song, dance and laughter this Christmas. Tickets are $20 and on sale now at the Tidemark Theatre. Box office hours are from Tuesday to Friday, noon to 4 p.m.
