Canadian folk singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant brings his acoustic and musical theatre creations to stage at Simon Holt on Saturday (March 12).
Gallant performs music from his recent albums Live Acoustic at the Carleton, for which he won Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and Searching for Abegweit, a double album featuring songs from his musical theatre production Searching For Abegweit: The Island Songs and Stories of Lennie Gallant.
Gallant has become widely know for his songwriting ability and his songs have been recorded and sung by artists such as Measha Bruggergosman, The Rankins and Jimmy Buffett.
Gallant received the Order of Canada for his contributions to Canadian Music Culture. He has produced 11 albums and won numerous awards and received several nominations for the Junos, East Coast Music Awards and Prix Eloizes.
His album When We Get There was nominated for a Juno and Canadian astronaut Julie Payette took his album with her to the International Space Station aboard the shuttle Endeavour.
Gallant performs at Simon Holt Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $26 and are available by calling 250-933-338. Reservations at the restaurant are also recommended and can be made at the same time as ticket ordering.
