Soul-icious grooves at the Royal Coachman

Joanna Finch and Cheko Soto combine for a “soul-icious” sound.

Don’t miss this November tour, showcasing the sultry vocal stylings of a well-loved Vancouver Island artist, Joanna Finch, when she welcomes the illustrious Mexican musician, Cheko Soto to her friends and fans.

You can catch the third show of their tour on Sunday, Nov. 22 1 to 4 p.m. at the Royal Coachman Inn in Campbell River.

Together Soul-icious’ sound is a fusion of  Carribean and Latin jazz, swinging blues and funk-rock.

A diverse artist, Soto  creates playful magic when he draws out Finch’s smooth-sweet voice.

Finch has chosen a selection of songs from her original recordings found on The Cabaret Collection, In The Arms of Morpheus and yet to be released albums: My First Love Was My Bicycle and The Beautiful Mystery,  along with pop and Latin classics.

A Cowichan Valley resident, Soto is a regular guest of the popular band, Los Rastrillos and other Afro-reggae fusion bands.

He supplies the sweetest guitar accompaniment, laying down funky jazz licks with a classical guitarist’s precision for Joanna’s spine tingling vocals.

Soto also sings beautifully and will be  performing some of his originals as well as his roots-reggae favourites.

Adding texture to the mix, Finch plays flute, melodica, percussion and her amazing “vocal cornet” throughout the sets. Surprise guest musicians will be present at some of the dates.

See them Sunday, Nov. 22 1 o 4 p.m. at the Royal Coachman Pub.
