Spanish flamenco virtuoso comes to Mission Nov.6

The Mission Folk Music Festival presents one of the great Flamenco guitarists of our time with an ensemble of six musicians, dancers and singers from Andalucia, Spain.

Anyone who attended Juan Martin’s sold out concert presented two years ago by the festival knows what kind of performance is coming. A celebrated virtuoso of the flamenco guitar who was voted into the top three guitarists in the world by U.S. magazine Guitar Player, Juan Martín learned his art in his homeland of Andalucia, the birth place of flamenco.

He has recorded 20 albums, mostly as a composer, the most recent of which are Serenade with the Royal Philharmonic and Solo. He has performed at major international arts festivals including Edinburgh, Ludwigsburg, Montreux, Sydney to San Francisco.

This concert represents his second visit to Mission and promises to be an unforgettable experience of flamenco. Tickets are $30 at www.missionfolkmusicfestival.ca, Murdoch’s Books in Mission, directly from the Clarke Theatre, or call 604-826-5937 and leave a message.
