The Comox Valley Art Gallery is putting on special events for Market Day this Saturday in downtown Courtenay.
CVAG offers booths from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on its plaza outside the art gallery on Duncan Avenue and on Fifth Street. All age groups are welcome.
Not your stuffy Art Gallery: Get an introduction to the fun CVAG has in store for youth programming this summer. Get hands-on creative by stopping by the outdoor plaza.
Activities include DIY collage button-making, a free dress-up photo booth, and live street art by Courtenay’s up-and-coming Jimmy Prud’homme.
Lost Treasures: This pirate-themed FUNdraising exhibit/art sale will be featured during Market Day on the CVAG outdoor plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is a second-hand bargain sale and exhibit of all things creative, artistic and funky — artworks in all mediums such as paintings, prints, sculptures and pottery; antique items such as unique lamps, plates, cutlery and other collectables; gently used art supplies and books.
Fun on Fifth: A booth on Fifth Street will feature the best of Comox Valley-produced arts and crafts from the CVAG gift shop. The shop features work from close to 100 different artists. The gallery offers a wide selection to suit all tastes and budgets including, but not limited to pottery, glass, jewelry, metal work, wood work, fabric arts, paintings, prints and art cards.
For more information on these and more of the gallery’s programs, contact CVAG at 338-6211, or visit www.comoxvalleyartgallery.com. CVAG is located in downtown Courtenay at 580 Duncan Ave., across from the library.
